The only way to get a true blue colour in ceramics is to use cobalt. The majority of the world's supply of cobalt is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo, under truly awful circumstances. Most of that cobalt ends up in electric vehicles, smartphones, and other electronics alongside other conflict minerals.
We've decided to stop purchasing cobalt so these whales are a truly a limited edition piece until we run out of our current stock of it.

All my pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe, and I use only 100% food-safe materials in my glaze mixes. Spiked and tentacled pieces are especially fragile so please handle them with care!
